This is Modern Slavery - Occupy4Prisoners

Go to 4:12 to see a wide shot of Jabari and Timbuktu rapping for this 700+ mass rally with prison guards and and penitentiary buildings only feet behind them.

It was at this moment that I felt that these walls aren't going to last much longer. This system of caging humans has ZERO justification on which to stand. Once the truth is set free, it will be finished.

It is not inevitable though. That will be up to all of us.

Jabari and Timubktu are both formerly caged people by the state of Calfornia, and two of many in a growing movement of formerly incarcerated (read: enslaved) people and their allies to bring down this system of oppression. This day was a historic day in uniting the Occupy movement with a PROACTIVE (not reactionary) movement for human rights and justice for for the millions of people locked up in cells and ensnared in parole systems all over this country.

"INSIDE! OUTSIDE! WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE!"

"Man it's like a family reunion to me, man. I go to Laney College from San Quentin State Penitentiary right here. And I come back to San Quentin to try and liberate my brothers and sisters. We gonna keep the fight alive." - Jabari Shaw

"As a person who came from doing for years at YA [Youth Authority], 13-17, I understand how a person can be institutionalized, man. So all I wanna do is put this in perspective. We know that once the slaves were free in 1865, they started a system called the convict leasing system. The convict leasing system is when the state rented out slaves. So we know that this is about free labor. We know that this industrial prison complex is about money. It's about money. It's about free labor, so let's call it what it is. This is modern day slavery." - Timbuktu Akaamka
